Chesterfield authorities say man on home incarceration got out of ankle monitor and fled

CHESTERFIELD – The county sheriff’s office continues to look for a Chesterfield man who escaped home incarceration sometime Friday, leaving behind his ankle monitor found alongside state Route 10 in Chester.William Thomas Powell, 42, of the 500 block of Pullbrook Drive, did not respond to a required check-in with the sheriff's office Friday as part of his housebound punishment on drug-charge convictions. Using dogs and the signal from his monitor, Chesterfield Police tracked it to the side of Route 10 where Powell allegedly was picked up and driven away.Ankle monitors are devised to emit a warning signal to authorities if they are cut or removed without authorization. The sheriff's office did not say how Powell was able to remove his monitor.The sheriff’s office obtained a warrant for his arrest on felony escape. He already was serving a 20-month sentence for drug possession and an 11-month sentence for violating his probation.Powell is described as 6-feet-tall and weighing 280 pounds.
