Israel’s Campaign Is Causing Undue Suffering in Gaza

But given how enmeshed Hamas is with the civilian population of Gaza, its destruction is, as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu writes, “especially challenging” (“Israel’s Three Prerequisites For Peace,” op-ed, Dec. 26).But assigning blame to Hamas for all the suffering inflicted on the people of Gaza by the Israeli Defense Forces makes no sense. Are Mr. Netanyahu and his government puppets of Hamas? The Israeli government and IDF soldiers are the ones identifying targets, dropping bombs, pulling triggers and halting the flow of food, water and medicine into Gaza.
