That Mr. Baird wrote or approved Mr. Milken’s indictment proves nothing. In our country, the accused is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, a fact that prosecutors too often forget. In a Dec. 28 letter responding to Charles Gasparino’s review of my book, “Witness to a Prosecution” (Bookshelf, Dec. 18), Bruce Baird refers to me as Michael Milken’s “apologist” and accuses me of inventing a “false narrative.” Clearly, he didn’t read the book, and I would never lie or create a false narrative.
