Republicans Are Trying to Elect a Lame-Duck President

null Nov. 24, 2023 12:18 pm ETHaving watched all three Republican debates and seen the candidates try to attract voters without alienating the fans of the front-runner, I think all are missing the main point. Donald Trump, if elected, would immediately be a lame-duck president. Second terms aren’t typically very productive for that reason. As Tim Scott exits the race (“Tim Scott Makes an Upbeat Exit,” Review & Outlook, Nov. 14), Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis should be hammering this point.
