It’s been a rocky week for Trader Joe’s.

The California-based grocery chain this week recalled cookies, falafel and broccoli soup because they may contain rocks or bugs.

The company didn’t specify how the foreign objects came to be in the prepared food items. It said a supplier alerted it in each case.

The recalls were a result of issues in the manufacturing processes, Trader Joe’s said.

The first recall, for Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Chunk and Almond Cookies and for its Almond Windmill Cookies, was issued early in the week.

The products “may contain rocks,” Trader Joe’s said in its recall alert.

On Thursday, the grocery chain said it had learned from a supplier that its Trader Joe’s Unexpected Broccoli Cheddar soup may contain insects. No health issues have been reported, and the company said potentially affected products have been removed.

Trader Joe’s offers customers remarkably fewer options than other major supermarkets and it’s consistently ranked highest for customer satisfaction. WSJ’s Jaewon Kang breaks down why its small selection of private label brands and trendy products keep shoppers coming back.

On Friday, the company recalled its Trader Joe’s Fully Cooked Falafel over concerns that the product contained rocks.

“If you purchased or received any donations of Fully Cooked Falafel, please do not eat them,” the alert said.

Customers who bought any of the three products can return them for a refund.

The potentially contaminated Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Chunk and Almond Cookies have a sell-by date of Oct. 17 through Oct. 21. The Almond Windmill Cookies have sell-by dates of Oct. 2 and Oct. 19 through Oct. 21.

The Trader Joe’s Unexpected Broccoli Cheddar Soup was sold with use-by dates of July 18 to Sept. 15. Over 10,000 cases were distributed to stores in Florida, Illinois, California, Texas, Washington, Pennsylvania and Connecticut.

The company’s Fully Cooked Falafel was sold in nearly three dozen states and Washington, D.C., under stock unit number 93935, the recall alert said.
