Monday afternoon shooting: Tallahassee police investigate Monday fatal shooting inside local convenience store

The morning shooting in the 600 block of Dent Street is less than two miles away from another fatal shooting Monday afternoon. A man was shot and killed in broad daylight at the Time Saver convenience store on Alabama Street.

TPD spokesperson Heather Merritt said they have no reason to believe the two cases are connected.

This incident marks at least the 51st serious shooting in the capital city and county this year, according to a Tallahassee Democrat analysis of gun violence. So far in 2023, 13 have been killed and 39 have been injured.

Nine of the fatalities happened over the last two months. Just last week, a woman and her sister were killed by an ex-boyfriend who then led police on a multiple county chase and ended his life on Facebook live.
