The MAGA Hat and the Future of the GOP

Gerard Baker’s “‘Fleece Vest’ and ‘MAGA Hat’ Discuss Trump” (Free Expression, Nov. 28), however, comes closest.My lifelong conservative inclinations decidedly lean toward President Ronald Reagan and Mr. Baker’s Fleece Vest character. I like to believe I am a rational, civilized person. What Fleece Vest doesn’t understand (and I do) is that more than 50 years of “rational and civilized,” and the Richard Lugars, Trent Lotts, Mitt Romneys and Liz Cheneys of the world, find us so deep down a leftist and elitist rat hole that the light of day may soon become a distant memory.Copyright ©2023 Dow Jones & Company, Inc. I’ve yet to read an article that fully explains why I, an educated person, now retired from a successful career, would vote for Donald Trump twice, and am likely to do so again. Gerard Baker’s “‘Fleece Vest’ and ‘MAGA Hat’ Discuss Trump” (Free Expression, Nov. 28), however, comes closest.
