The Georgia indictment centers on allegations that former President Donald Trump and 18 co-defendants participated in a sweeping criminal enterprise to subvert the 2020 presidential election and stay in power despite losing to Joe Biden.
The sprawling 41-count indictment lays out a series of actions the defendants allegedly took to further that effort, resulting in charges of racketeering and a dozen other offenses. The indictment also notes outreach by some of the defendants to officials in Arizona, Michigan and Pennsylvania. Here’s a look at some of the actions outlined in the Georgia indictment that led to the charges:
Trump, Giuliani, Meadows, Clark, Shafer and Eastman denied any wrongdoing. Ellis has previously said she never lied about the election. The remaining co-defendants couldn’t be reached for comment.
