I am thinking of four pianos playing separate pieces simultaneously, simulating the discordance of the Trump years. Each piece will mirror the complexity of an individual indictment, and none will have discernible melodies or harmonies. Inspired by Daniel Henninger’s “Trump the Opera—III,” I have begun composing background music for the coming Trump trials (Wonder Land, Aug. 24). I am thinking of four pianos playing separate pieces simultaneously, simulating the discordance of the Trump years. Each piece will mirror the complexity of an individual indictment, and none will have discernible melodies or harmonies.
The simplest charge, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s political indictment, will be performed with two fingers. The Georgia indictment, the most complex, will be played with both fists and elbows as befits a RICO case. The music will be triple fortissimo.
