Two face charges in Fayette

Oct. 25—A man and a woman are in custody after an armed robbery reported in Kanawha Falls this week.

According to a press release from Fayette County Sheriff Mike Fridley, a deputy from the Fayette County Sheriff's Department was dispatched to a robbery call at 601 Kanawha Falls Road on the evening of Oct. 24.

While conducting an investigation, deputies took a statement and learned that Samuel Frederick Stewart Jr., of Kanawha Falls, allegedly pointed a shotgun at a man outside his residence and demanded that the man step inside his home. Once inside the home, the victim said Stewart ordered him to disrobe, put down his cell phone and leave the residence, according to the release.

At approximately 1:23 a.m. Wednesday, members of the FCSD's Tactical Operations Unit executed a search warrant at Stewart's home, according to the release. Once inside the residence, deputies discovered a loaded 12-gauge shotgun along with a cell phone and clothing matching the description of items belonging to the victim.

Authorities also located a clear baggie containing a substance consistent with heroin, a Schedule I controlled substance, and a clear baggie containing a substance consistent with methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance. Deputies also located a set of digital scales.

Stewart, 43, was arrested and charged with first degree armed robbery and is in Southern Regional Jail on a $100,000 bond. He also had an active bench warrant in Fayette County and an active capias out of Kanawha County.

Also charged was Chasity M. Hughes, 27, of Kanawha Falls. Hughes was arrested and charged with possession with intent to deliver and is in Southern Regional Jail on a $100,000 bond.
