The Oklahoma City Police Department has identified two people accused of killing animals at a Petland store in Oklahoma City on July 23, 2023. Police said the slayings took place after a male and female walked into the pet store about 12 miles northwest of downtown.

According to an affidavit, the woman contacted Oklahoma City police on July 26 after seeing the department's Facebook post requesting the public's help in identifying the pair. She told police that she was unaware any animals were killed until she saw the post.

After leaving the pet store, the woman told police she and the man drove to Mitch Park in Edmond to wash off the animals in the park bathrooms. She took the hamster into one bathroom and returned to her vehicle while the man took the guinea pig to the other bathroom, but when the man exited the other bathroom "after some time," the guinea pig was not moving.

The woman told police the man took the guinea pig to bury it, told her the bathroom was covered in blood, and took a video of the blood to show her. When she dropped him off at a friend's house, the hamster was alive, court documents state.

The following day, police said store staff found the hamster stomped to death in the Petland parking lot, and Edmond authorities found the guinea pig and a bloody bathroom at the park.

The investigation into this animal cruelty incident is currently ongoing, with both Animal Services and the police involved.
