The apartment last sold in 2018 for $6.01 million, property records show, but the identity of Mr. Sheeran’s landlord couldn’t immediately be determined. When it came on the market in January asking $36,000 a month, the Sheeran property was the most expensive rental on the market in Brooklyn. It was taken off the market roughly two months ago, according to StreetEasy.
The apartment has a private rooftop terrace with views over lower Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridge, as well as an outdoor dining area and a grill, according to the listing. The kitchen has walnut cabinets and Calacatta Tucci marble countertops. The apartment is decked out in furniture from brands such as Crate & Barrel, RH and Serena & Lily, the listing says.
A spokesperson for Mr. Sheeran couldn’t immediately be reached for comment. Mr. Sheeran, who is known for hits such as “Perfect” and “Shape of You,” was in New York last week, testifying in front of a federal jury in a copyright infringement trial that centers around whether Mr. Sheeran’s song, “Thinking Out Loud,” piggybacked too closely off Marvin Gaye’s hit song “Let’s Get it On.”
Mr. Sheeran has owned homes in London and in Suffolk, England.
